Tri mlade žene, Jelena, Katarina i Marija sreću se u Njujorku. Svaka od njih ima razlog za napuštanje Beograda. Katarina je otišla sredinom devedesetih u potrazi za boljim životom, Jelena – krajem devedesetih, bežeći od bombardovanja, a Marija, posle tragičnog gubitka mladića u ratu. Svaka od njih u potrazi je za svojim mestom u svetu kome ne pripadaju. Jedna od njih odlučuje da se vrati u zemlju i rodi dete. Ove tri devojke na metaforičan način predstavljaju mnogobrojne mlade ljude u potrazi za smislom života.
